The +15 accessway to city hall had been vulnerable to cold temperatures during the prior winter. EllisDon and MJS collaborated to build an effective schedule to complete the scope without any disruption to the facility. The challenge in completing this scope was working in a public space that had to remain in use, while the mechanical systems in the building could not be shut down. The lack of heat was rectified by installing a 65mm hot tap into the heating supply, and reconfiguring the piping in the space. The controls hardware was upgraded and a hydronic water balance of the space ensured that the system was working under optimal conditions.
